Otakon is an annual convention in Baltimore, Md. It's held during the summer at the Baltimore Convention Center and is a huge get together where self-proclaimed geeks meet and hang out. The name is a mixture of the words "otaku," and "convention." Otaku is the Japanese word that refers to family. In this case, the family is a bunch of anime and manga fans, but also includes gamers (people who play video games) and fans of popular movies and TV shows.
Events
Many of the events are held in what are called panels. There are guest panels that include popular writers, producers and voice actors where in you can listen to them talk about past works and upcoming ones. There are also Q&A panels with these guests as well and many amusing fan-made panels. Anime Music Videos (AMVs) are a consistent hit at Otakon. And there are no lack in comedians at the convention.
